Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., in a speech Wednesday said he plans to hammer Joe Biden in Sunday's presidential debate.

Sanders, who claimed he has "won the ideological debate" but "is losing the debate over electability," said he intends to question Biden on healthcare, higher education, abortion, climate change, student debt, a "racist criminal justice system," "inhumane immigration system," childhood poverty, and "billionaires buying elections."

NBC News on Thursday projected Sanders as the winner of last week's Democratic primary in California, the state with the most Super Tuesday delegates, though Biden leads the two-man field with 848 delegates – Sanders has 695.

Still, Sanders is vowing to stay in the race through Sunday night’s debate, citing a victory among the younger voters.

"Today, I say to the Democratic establishment, in order to win in the future, you need to win the voters who represent the future of our country, and you must speak to the issues of concern to them," he said in his speech Wednesday. "You cannot simply be satisfied by winning the votes of people who are older."

He said Sunday, "the American people will have the opportunity to see which candidate is best positioned to accomplish" the goal of beating President Donald Trump.
