Editors Note: Walls Are Crumbling And So Is the Dignity of the System

Editors Note: Walls Are Crumbling And So Is the Dignity of the System

Tuesday, 24 June 2025

The wall of a society’s parking lot collapsed in the rain just like the morality of our country’s politicians — already hollow, and the builder’s negligence just made it worse.

The builder of the construction next door, in his infinite wisdom, decided to dump all his bricks, cement, and rubble against our wall — no support structure, no engineering sense, nothing.

And when the rains came, the wall practically screamed, “Bro, I’m a wall, not a dumping ground!” and crashed.

Now the builder says, “We’ll compensate you.”
Oh wow! In a country where someone sleeping on the footpath has to wait 20 years for justice, this sudden generosity brought a tear to our eyes.
But compensation only makes sense if the building was done right in the first place.

When this 20-storey building’s construction started, it was obvious from day one that something shady was going on. The depth of the foundation was so shallow, it resembled the depth of a politician’s conscience — purely superficial.

Let’s throw in some technical facts too:

For a 20-storey building, a foundation of at least 10 to 15 meters is essential. If the soil is weak — and in this case, it clearly is — a pile foundation of 20–25 meters is recommended.
What they dug here wasn’t even enough to bury a small crime — or maybe just enough for a politician to hide his sins.

But who cares?

When politicians themselves are murderers, why would they care about the strength of buildings?

Heard of Ganpat Gaikwad?

In Feb last year, BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad allegedly fired at least six bullets at Mahesh Gaikwad... and said “Yes, I shot (him) myself. I have no regrets. If my son is being beaten in front of the police inside the police station, what will I do,” then shamelessly got his wife Sulbha Gaikwad a party ticket to wrap the family’s sins in the warm blanket of power. Now madam is an MLA, and her idea of public service is never stepping outside her house.

Now Ganpat’s wife’s in power — and both are happily sucking the blood of the system.

But again, who cares?

As long as there’s Dahi Handi on Janmashtami, and Aarti on Ram Navami, the public will keep lining up, chanting “Jai Shri Ram,” while bribing a babu just to get their pension form signed.

This country runs on paper — and that paper doesn’t move unless there’s a stack of cash beneath it.

Even the builder knows — it doesn’t matter if the building is stable, because the system’s foundation has already collapsed.
Distribute some cash, donate 10 scooters, feed a few poor people, and boom — you’re a “people’s hero” on Instagram.

Then the great men in white come to “inspect the damage,” acting like God himself has descended from heaven.
“Beta, don’t worry, we’ll take care of it,” they say, before hopping into their SUV and driving off to the next temple photo-op.

Here’s the truth:

The government doesn’t care,
The politician has no shame,
The builder has no brains,
And the people? We just keep suffering in silence.
